Heinz History Center Tour

The Senator John Heinz History Center traces its roots back to 1879, making it the oldest cultural institution in Western Pennsylvania. With the opening of the Smithsonian wing in 2004, the History Center became the largest history museum in Pennsylvania. The new wing has allowed better opportunities found in the affiliation with the Smithsonian Institution. The additional space added the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum, the Mueller Education Center, the Special Collections Gallery, and the McGuinn Gallery for traveling exhibitions. The 370,000 square-foot museum presents compelling stories from American history with a Western Pennsylvania connection in an interactive environment perfect for visitors of all ages.
Join us on Friday morning, July 7, 2017, for a docent led tour through the renowned Heinz History Center of Western Pennsylvania. The History Center is just a short walk from the hotel and is also accessible by the hotel shuttle. We will meet in the lobby at 9:15A to walk to the History Center. We will begin our tour promptly at 10A and it will last for 1 ½ hours.
Tickets must be purchased in advance for all groups so please indicate your interest and number in your party on your reunion registration form. Deadline for registration and payment for this event is April 15, 2017.

The cost is:

• Youth ages 6 to 17 – $6.00

Pittsburgh Party Pedaler

Pittsburgh Party Pedaler is not only a city tour but a family party, and it is an exciting fun way to see the “Burgh” with a group. Our group is the motor, while our driver does the steering and braking! On Pittsburgh’s original party bike, we get a peek at the great sights the city has to offer on a 2 hour pedal by the stadiums, stores and restaurants throughout downtown & the North Shore before making our way to Market Square. With plenty of options at each stop to wet your whistle, there’s no better way to see some of the bars and shops the City of Pittsburgh has to offer.
Your 2-hour tour on the Pedaler, laughing it up with family, will be an experience you will not soon forget. All riders must be at least 18 years of age and provide valid identification. Family members between the ages of 16-18 will be allowed to ride with a parent.

Friday, July 7, 2017 – Meet in hotel lobby at 11:30am – Tour from 12 noon until 2pm $30 per person – includes light refreshments – must be able to pedal – weight not to exceed 300lb. African Dance

Dance…Dance…Dance
Come and join us for a rhythmic experience in African dance. No prior dance experience is necessary. However, you are required to bring a joyful spirit and a willingness to have fun moving with the family! Our instructor, Keira Washington, teaches and performs extensively in the Pittsburgh area and is looking forward to getting the family to “bring it!”

This activity will take place at the hotel on July 7, 2017 from 9:30 – 10:30A. There is no charge. Just indicate, on the registration form, that you are interested so we can prepare accordingly. Wear comfortable clothing and shoes and let’s move.

Healthy Bike Ride

Plan to stretch your legs and take an early morning 1.5 hr. bike ride on Saturday, July 8, 2017. We will meet in the hotel lobby at 8 am and walk to the nearby Healthy Ride kiosk. It will be an easy ride along trails in the downtown area. Bikes can be rented from Healthy Ride. Healthy Ride is operated by Pittsburgh Bike Share whose mission is to expand access to public transit through easy-to-use, affordable active transportation opportunities.

You must be registered with the system before you can rent a bicycle. Bicycles will be rented when you are physically at the station. Riders must be 16+ years and must be 18+ years to register for the system. Please register prior to the date of the event.
You can register for the system in three ways.

2. Website: www.healthyridepgh.com
3. Call Customer Service: 412-535-5189
Enter in your personal information, then a method of payment. You will be charged $1 to activate your payment method. This $1 will be applied to your first ride. You must enter in a method of payment to rent a bike.

Once registered, you may rent up to 4 bicycles at one time. Each bike is the same rate, $2 per 30 minutes.

Please indicate your interest in this activity and the names in your party on your reunion registration form and submit by April 15, 2017.
